Goondoi Rangers has a partnership with the neighbouring Mandubarra Aboriginal Land & Sea Inc. Together, both Traditional Owner groups have commenced cultivation of a new seagrass nursery at the Mourilyan Harbour site, which aims to establish and develop a growing nursery for future natural disaster response efforts.
As of March 2024, seagrass meadows are under increasing threat, and this project aims to nurture, protect, and expand upon these crucial areas, which provide coastal protection as well as key habitats for fish and crustaceans.
